Junior National Young Leadership Council

Junior National Young Leaders Conference (JrNYLC)

Exploring Leadership Through Example

At the center of the American story for over 200 years, Washington, D.C. is the perfect backdrop for talented middle school students to discover the decisions that created a nation, and the men and women who had the courage to make them. In the shadow of our most beloved national memorials and monuments, students develop the tools to lead others, improve their communities, and fulfill their own potential.

  • Mock trials and unique discoveries at important sites, such as Harpers Ferry National Historical Park, show program scholars the complexities of leadership and immerse them in the details of historical events.
  • Extensive site visits and discussions of the capital's monuments, memorials and important government offices lead to a more personal understanding of the people who have led the nation and the consequences of their decisions.
  • Students return from JrNYLC with new skills to be better leaders, to excel at critical thinking, and to improve their own communities through political involvement and activism.

Space in this program is limited and will be filled in the order in which students enroll. Use the appropriate links to choose your preferred session date and enroll now, or for more detailed program information, visit our dedicated website at www.cylc.org/jrnylc today.

"Casey had the time of her life. She learned so much, made so many friends and had no problem doing her speech in front of 260 people! What a difference we see in Casey today. She can't wait to go again."
