From the commotion of the emergency room to the intensity of the classroom, the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine (NYLF/MED) gives promising high school students the chance to dive into the real world of medicine by accompanying doctors on rounds, observing surgeries, and working with researchers who study diseases and find cures. Whether they are interested in working with patients, performing surgery, or leading medical research, NYLF/MED provides talented young people with tools, experiences and the sound advice of professionals to help them make decisions about their education and career goals.

• In clinical visits, attending scholars work shoulder-to-shoulder with practicing physicians as they participate in rounds and experience the daily events of a life in medicine.
• By meeting with current medical students, scholars learn first-hand the details of the complex requirements involved in a medical education.
• Forum on Medicine scholars gain in-depth knowledge of the realities of a career in medicine through group discussions of current hot-button issues, recent legislation, and emerging practices, which are lead by leaders in the medical field.
